Radical Love

Today is Martin Luther King’s Birthday

……..which got me thinking about what it means to courageously stand for my own most important ideal

…………………..for me, the most important ideal is love.

I’m talking about the kind of love that takes deep courage.

Here’s what’s very clear:  Sexism, racism, homophobia, and all the isms are the complete opposite of love.

Hating others shows that you’re really afraid of the world changing.  You are afraid of people you don’t understand.  You are afraid of what you can’t control.  You feel better about yourself by putting others down.

A person who is caught up in these “isms” is on shaky ground because their self worth is dependent on others being in an inferior position so they can have a false sense of adequacy.

And here’s what may not be as clear:   While we have a tendency to hate the haters, we are all very capable of being haters ourselves.  I could tell you about how I was picked on in school, treated badly in relationships, ignored and victimized.  We have all had those kinds of experiences.

But when I’m really honest with myself, I recognize that I have done wrong to others, held some ignorant beliefs and lowered myself to the worst kinds of thoughts and behaviors.  And you have too.  (Who isn’t guilty of getting a cheap thrill from seeing others fail, gossiping, retaliating in an argument just for the sake of winning vs. trying to find higher ground?)

Some research suggests that genetic predisposition bulk cialis also plays a role in the release of endorphins, which sets the mood for love. Medications can cute-n-tiny.com cialis 10 mg help to relieve impotence issue in man and helps his health condition to attain better level by supplying his penile structure with affluent blood. Can you love that lowest part of yourself?   Can you see past the poor behavior of others to love that part of them as well?

Love takes some real guts.

Can you look inside with enough honesty and compassion to see that your bad behavior is really a cry for love?

Can you love others with compassion and honesty as well?
